SEPTEMBER EVENT GUIDE Awe, September! That crisp feeling in the air, the leaves beginning to change color and maybe the best part of all, THE KIDS ARE BACK IN SCHOOL. Can I get a "HECK YEA" to routine, early bedtimes and a normal schedule (lol). Actually, I had a ton of fun this summer with my little one! My family and I spent as much time as possible exploring Oregon's beautiful outdoors!
Now that Autumn is upon us and we still have at least a few more weeks of exceptional weather, now is the time to kick it up a notch and truly see what Portland has to offer! Personally, I'll be spending time hiking when I can and cozying up with a pint of Oktoberfest beer.

PLAY FAIR PDX September 7th - 9th http://www.playfairpdx.com/
A Celebration of Play and Entertainment for All Ages, Play Fair brings new and beloved toy and pop culture brands together under one roof for an interactive and fun-filled live event open to families, fans, and media! This event in is conjunction with Rose City Comic Con. Tickets are just $10/kid for 3 day access to both exhibits.
PORTLAND TRAIN RIDES SATURDAY
September - November (Saturdays)
Ride the Oregon Pacific Railroad every Saturday, through the scenic Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge and along the Willamette River's east shore. Train rides are approximately 45 minutes round and take riders between the Oregon Rail Heritage Center and Oaks Amusement Park.
PORTLAND CATIO TOUR
September 8th
Suit up in your best K9 attire or bring a stuffed pooch to the Lucky Lab's Tour de Lab in support of DoveLewis! This 15mile, or 42 mile urban bike ride, commences at the Lucky Labrador Brewing Company and ends with a costume contest, beers, and hotdogs.
VOLUNTEER EXPO
September 6th
The Standard Volunteer Expo returns to Pioneer Courthouse Square. This event features local nonprofits in the Portland Metro Area that help match volunteers with organizations that fit their skills and interests.
13TH ANNUAL DANCING IN THE SQUARE POWWOW
September 7th
The Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board and other local Indian organizations invite you to join them for the 2018 American Indian Day Celebration at Pioneer Courthouse Square. Traditional dancers, drummers, musicians, and artisans will fill space for all to enjoy!
AIDS WALK PORTLAND
September 8th
AIDS WALK PORTLAND is a fun 2.4-mile walk for the family, friends and the whole community. Walk to raise awareness & funds for the fight against HIV/AIDS. See site for details and registration.
2018 BELMONT STREET FAIR
September 8th
The 2018 Belmont Street Fair is a popular Portland event with live music, entertainment, art, vendors, kid's activities, food, and beer gardens on SE Belmont Street from 33rd to 39th.
EL GRITO FESTIVAL
September 15th
Come gather in the Moda Center for the El Grito Festival. This event celebrates the independence of Mexico and other Latin American countries from Spain and features authentic cuisine, Aztec dancers, live mariachi, salsa, cumbia and much more!
FALL ROSE SHOW
September 15th
Portland Rose Society - founded in 1889, America's first rose society -- will hold its annual fall rose show at the Lloyd Center Mall. Billed as America's largest and longest-running rose show.
OREGON INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL
September 22nd - 27th
The Oregon Independent Film Festival travels from Eugene to Portland with over 75 films from 14 countries. The festival's collection of new independent films will be screened by Portland theater audiences and will close with an award after-party!
MUSEUM DAY LIVE!
September 22nd
Nineteen museums all over the state are offering free admission for two people! Visit the website for your free ticket and opportunity to experience art, culture, and history.
OREGON INTERNATIONAL AIR SHOW
September 28th - 30th
Drawing more than 65,000 people each year, The Oregon International Air Show features airplanes up close and in the air! Experience aerobatics, skydivers, a kid's zone, beer garden, and Friday fireworks at Hillsboro Airport. Don't miss out on Oregon's largest aviation event!
OKTOBERFEST - OREGON ZOO
September 29th
Join us for beer sampling and family fun to kick off fall! Local vendors will be stationed around the concert lawn offering free samples of Oregon beers for the grown-ups, and family activities include live music, dancing, lawn games and fun crafts for kids.
